This is a book of fifteen short stories about what happened to Sid "after breakfast on Delancey Street" in West Philly during the 30's and 40's when his Mom gave him a big hug and kiss and sent him on his way. "Shanella (pretty one). Come back promptly at five o'clock if you want your dinner hot!" Read how Sid had fun, faced his demons, survived bullying and learned how to take care of himself. Sid also included a few fairy tales that just happened to drop in. A sample of these stories can be seen at sidnachman.com. Two customer reviews not included in Customer Reviews that were sent as E-Mails are summarized here. "This book is a must read for Christians. It will help you gain insight into Jewish culture through the eyes of a boy growing up in an urban environment." Pastor Bob Bremer, Indiana. The Reverend. Ladd K. Harris, Episcopal Priest writes. "Sid's stories touch the human soul and capture his early life in Philadelphia with wit, creativity and realism."

Strictly for Seniors eBook Sid Nachman Reviews
The hook for Sid Nachman's book, "Strictly for Seniors" is that the stories are about the times of my youth. As I read any one of the many short stories in this book, my mind travels back to the time period before, during and after WW11 when I was a lad and a teen. These years were precious to me and the stories in the book spark those memories. Another wonderful aspect of the book is that it is composed of short stories which can be read on the fly in my daily busy schedule. I recommend the book to anyone, not just seniors because it is entertaining with it's depth of humor and introspection. Sid Nachman's "Strictly for Seniors" is a must read.

It's a book that seniors shouldn't miss reading and a bargain at $8.99, even at a hell of a lot more. Every story took me back to my childhood.I especially loved the "Chicken ". The visual image I got of the kids going to the chicken store on Friday made it seem like I was there. What else could you ask for? This is a book that our kids should read if they ever get interested in how we grew up.
A roller coaster ride through the mind of one of the funniest and endearing storytellers of his generation. Sid Nachman has done it again, delivering the goods and leaving us wanting more. His quick wit and ability to transform a reader of any age in to a senior citizen navigating the world today is done with the precision of a surgeon. I'm looking forward to more from this author who is quickly becoming one of my favorites. I laughed, I cried and then I read it again.
In my humble opinion "Strictly for Seniors" is a misnomer. This book can be enjoyed by anyone of legal drinking age. Sid Nachman is an amazing author, who invites us into "a secret place deep down inside himself where pain and fear collide, where he can hide and make everything bad disappear."
Like James Joyce, Sid Nachman can take the ordinary and turn it into magic with a fluency that is imperceptible. There are no awkward moments. Our disbelief is suspended and we fly to another world of street games played between rows of parked cars, to the daily adventures of people living in the 1940's and '50's, the good, bad and indifferent. "The world was a much different place..." Read "Strictly for Seniors" and discover the magic of this "much different place." You'll be glad that you did.
Here are 15 stories from growing up in the 50's. I have to admit, having grown up Jewish, but in the 'burbs in the 50's, these stories do not bear any resemblence to any of the anecdotes my parents would tell. Sure, my dad had dared a neighbor to empty her trash in the nude and you know, she DIDN'T even guess Dad was an avid shutterbug. But then, Instagram hadn't been invented so her secret is safe deep in our family album. But Nachman tells more racy stories--a couple of amorous Norwegian immigrants discovered while getting it on in someone's bathtub and then slipping on the tile, fifteen year old puppy crushes and a lot of other stories of Jewish life in crowded urban settings. My parents most definitely would NOT approve. "Maybe that happened to other people, but your Dad and I certainly didn't know people like THAT."
These are funny stories but not necessarily for the young'uns...
Well composed. Nostalgia at its best
I want to say first that I met Sid Nachman while doing some work for him. Sid is a wonderfully free human being and is effusive with his personality. His short stories are simply wonderful. I alternately laughed, cried, and was angered by these stories. They are beautifully crafted and they are sometimes non-linear (from story to story) and sometimes foreshadowing. I hope Sid continues to put his stories in writing. He has a good handle on the crafting of a story.
All i think i need to say is this...What a guy...For all his idiosyncrasies, jobs, women and life in general,he made it through !!! I hope that i`m as lucky as Mr. Nachman...I think that`s what we all hope and strive for in life, being content...
